Description
For over 35 years, Dr. Lucy Jones has been the preeminent public voice for earthquake resilience, conducting thousands of interviews with all kinds of media and appearing on every major news outlet, including all national news broadcasts, all major cable news networks, as well as NPR, PBS, and numerous TV specials about earthquakes and disasters.
On Thursday, June 17th, the Industry Business Council Board of Directors welcomes expert seismologist, Dr. Lucy Jones, to share the risk we face of earthquakes in Southern California and the potential impact on lives, property, and the economy that an earthquake can have on businesses in the San Gabriel Valley. She will use lessons learned from the pandemic to discuss how businesses can prepare for disaster, as well as why it’s imperative that each business owner and resident create a disaster resilience plan.
You will leave this webinar feeling prepared for any earthquake activity, small or large, as well as with the understanding of how taking proactive measures to be prepared can make a remarkable difference for whatever the next disaster you might face.
Dr. Jones is the founder of the Dr. Lucy Jones Center for Science and Society, with a mission to foster the understanding and application of scientific information in the creation of more resilient communities. She is the author of the book, The Big Ones, and is also a Research Associate at the Seismological Laboratory of Caltech, a post she has held since 1984. She has been active in earthquake studies for decades, furthering earthquake risk reduction through seismological research and integrated disaster scenarios. She also hosts the weekly Getting Through It podcast, sharing insights on managing the world we all live in.
